Team Picnic Is Team Rescue Dog
NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY is proudly observed annually on MAY 20 to bring awareness to the countless number of amazing dogs in shelters around the country who deserve a second chance at a forever home. To commemorate this very cool holiday, we’re sharing the photos and stories of our Picnic Time team’s beloved rescue dogs.

Name: Boston
Age: 5
Breed: mixed
Boston was rescued in 2019 in LA. He came all the way here from Arizona after a family picked him up on a road trip and dropped him off at a local shelter. He can be very shy and timid around new people but is so loving and full of energy with the ones he knows.
Name: Dakota
Age: 12
Breed: Husky/Lab mix
Dakota loves going on walks, getting pets, and hanging out with his family. He was actually a Secret Santa gift between two Picnic Time employees and recused from a local CA shelter. He recently passed away but will always be in our hearts.
Name: Anova and Stevie
Age: 5 and 2
Breed: Husky and Husky/Lab mix (or as we say Huskador)
Anova was rescued from a CA shelter in 2020. After moving to WA in 2022, Stevie shortly joined the family later. This photo is from the first day they met and Stevie came home. As you can tell they were best friends right away and love getting into all kinds of mischief together. Believe it or not, Anova rarely talks but Stevie has plenty to say for the both of them.
Name: Patty and Detective Munch
Breed: Pitbull/Boxer mix and French Bulldog/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix
Patty (or Patricia when she’s feeling fancy) was adopted 13 years ago from a rescue in the Southern California high desert, where she had been a stray for several weeks before the team saved her from the high-kill shelter. Detective Munch is her much younger “brother,” adopted from San Bernadino in 2022 where his pregnant momma was found abandoned by Dream Team Angels rescue. He is so named because he bore a more-than-passing resemblance to the actor Richard Belzer as a puppy, but his tendency to eat first and ask questions later makes the name very apt. Patty wasn’t sure she wanted a puppy at first, but Detective Munch soon won her over with his star-quality and charm and they are now inseparable.
Name: Wonder
Age: 8 - 10 years old
Breed: Malti Poo
Rescued 5 years ago from a California Shelter, Wonder, is deaf and suffers from seizures. Despite these difficulties, he is the sweetest pup that loves to cuddle and double-loves to eat.
Name: Juneau
Age: 6 years old
Breed: Husky
She was returned to the shelter 3 times before her second birthday but has been with us for almost 5 years now. She ran right up to the front of the kennel and smiled as if to say, "pick me!" and we did. She loves to cut open toys with surgical precision with the exception of her favorite penguin. Her favorite part of the day is any time anyone comes home - be it from a work, or a vacation, or even just from the store. It's all the same to her.
Our rescue dogs are family. Whether you’re paying the cheese tax from your Toscana Charcuterie Board or sharing some cold water from your Oniva Cooler Backpack, we hope you make great memories with your pups and your Picnic Time accessories.
Cheers,
Team Picnic
