On the Road with Picnic Time: Iceland

January 30, 2023 by Brooke Hansen

Remember Jared? Jared and his travels? Jared’s Detours? As you may recall, he’s one of our fave travel bloggers, so we decided to send him the Tarana Cooler collection to join him as he visits the most beautiful places in the world.

Why the Tarana collection? Well, it includes a impressively roomy cooler/backpack, a lunch tote complete with utensils and a cooler bag perfect for packing all your items. The collection is made tough and comfy enough for major hikes and long air travel, and, frankly, it looks fantastic. Plus, the shell of each item is made from recycled plastic water bottles! What could be better than traveling to the most beautiful places in the world? Duh - it’s doing that traveling while also doing your part to protect the planet too.

Why Jared? Look, we just think the guy is super cool! Last time we checked in with him, he’d just spent time in some of the U.S.A.’s most breathtaking national parks. Frankly, we didn’t think he could top that. But he may have managed it with his mind-blowingly gorgeous trip to Iceland. Read on for top-tier travel tips for your trip to Iceland - and get a good look at the perfect recycled cooler collection for every excursion.

Sky Lagoon

Jared says, Sky Lagoon is all naturally-heated through geothermal means. The water is piped in at a scaldingly-hot temperature and cooled before it goes into circulation in the Lagoon. The infinity edge stretches the length of the Lagoon, and provides ample space for leaning and gazing off into the Atlantic Ocean.

Diamond Beach

Jared says, “The current tends to toss ice shards and full icebergs back up onto the beach, which are perfectly clear. The ice sparkles like diamonds in the sun, set against the black sand beach.

Solheimasandur Crash Site

Jared says, “A US Navy plane crashed on a remote stretch of land during a storm in 1973.  It encountered severe wind, fog and sleet. The remaining fuselage of the Douglas C-117D, or Douglas Super DC3, is a tourist attraction today.

While Jared loved the natural beauty in Iceland, some of the more tourist-y destinations got a few critical comments from him - and that’s why we <3 his travel blog. We know he’ll be honest about what to do and what not to do with your precious vacation time. It’s also why we’re so flattered he’s travelling the world with the Tarana collection - if he didn’t love it, we know we’d be hearing about it!

Now, our only question is - where will you be taking your Tarana Cooler? Make sure to let us know in the comments or tag us in your photos on social media we can enjoy the view too.
